Discord
We use a dedicated Discord server for this course, for communication, Q&A, and everything that is easier to sort out in a sentence than in an email.
Nothing on Discord is graded. It is for questions, announcements and community — every graded thing is handed in through Classroom 50, the quiz form, or Brightspace. Ask half-formed questions there; that is what it is for.
The server is where you can:
- Ask questions about lectures, assignments, and projects
- Discuss concepts and share resources with your peers
- Get help from the instructor and from your classmates
- Find teammates for the mini-project and the final project
Invitation links to the Discord server will be distributed via Brightspace. Please check the Brightspace announcements or course materials for the latest invite link.
Once you join you will find a handful of channels:
| Channel | For |
|---|---|
#welcome |
say hello, and read the pinned messages |
#general |
announcements, and anything about the course that is not a question |
#qa |
questions: lectures, assignments, setup trouble |
#ai-tutor |
the AI tutor — pi, your course API key, and anything it got wrong |
#random |
everything else, including figures and results you want to show off |
If you’re new to Discord, it’s a free platform available on web, desktop, and mobile. If you have any trouble joining, please contact the instructor.
